Neil Pentland - Chairman & CEO
Neil is a co-founder and original CEO of DecoNetwork. Neil has more 40 years experience of running companies he has created. His passion has been in the IT industry since 1982. At that time he started a consulting business and provided services for small to larger businesses to address their computing and IT needs. With his three sons Adam, Mark and Greg and his wife Dianne, he founded Golden Orb Technologies in 1996. This company developed an e-commerce application in 1997 that was called website weaver. This application won the APICTA award as the best business application in 2000. Golden Orb Technologies in 2003 had 24 programmers providing very scalable solutions for Medium to Large Enterprises. In 2005 Golden Orb technologies won the Australian national IT Award for best media product with an internet application called Pikipimp. Today Pikipimp has evolved into DecoNetwork.
Neil has sat on many University and Industry advisory boards and was the president of the Gold Coast IT Forum for three years. His passion, besides his family and golf, is technology. That passion and innovative nature is now focussed entirely upon DecoNetwork’s vision: To create and be the world’s enduring business technology of choice for the Custom Decoration Industry.
Mark Pentland one of the founders of DecoNetwork. He is our Chief technical officer as well as being our systems architect. Mark has a degree in Information Technology from Griffith University.
Mark’s passion for logic and his ability to translate business needs into industry leading solutions provides technical and industry understanding to the board.
He has been the creator of many innovative Internet Technologies that have been recognised with both national and international awards. These awards include Australian and Pacific Information Technology Awards (APPICTA) for Website Weaver and SABR – two systems that enabled smaller businesses to have E-commerce web presences managed from their own desktops. This sounds simple now, but in 1997 it was bleeding edge. He won Australian awards for the same offerings as well as Pikipimp which won National awards in 2005. He was the creator of many online solution prior to 2005, which included PikFX, Buttonator and Comeeko.
Since 2006 his total commitment and creative genius have been focused upon making DecoNetwork the reliable, scalable and comprehensive end-to-end business solution that DecoNetwork is today.
Dr. David Merson
During the 1970’s much of the Australian mining industry’s computing was provided by US based mainframe computer utilities, with limited mining applications software. In 1979, combining new hardware technology, a new business model for computing service delivery, superior software applications, and just $50,000 of capital, David Merson founded Mincom (a contraction of the term “mining computing”) in Brisbane, and was to remain its CEO until 2000. During his tenure, Mincom grew to be Australia’s largest software developer and exporter, with revenue of $200 million, 1300 staff, 20 offices around the world, and global leadership in a number of software categories. Mincom today is much more than mining with most of its software dealing with asset management and maintenance, resulting in its software being suitable for most asset-intensive industries such as utilities, transport and defence. Mining, however, remains its largest business.
Since retiring from Mincom, David has become a director of a number of Australian software companies, research institutes and charitable institutions. His achievements have been recognised with an Honorary Doctorate in Engineering from the University of Queensland, a Centenary Medal from the Australian Government, the Export Hero award from the Australian Institute of Export, the inaugural Australian Information Technology Association’s Gold award, and the inaugural CSIRO iAward for individual achievement in the IT industry (2005).
David Merson is a graduate in Electrical Engineering and in Economics from the University of Queensland.
MBA (Aust), FCA(Aust), FCCA (UK), CPA (Mal)
