Brenden,

so this will work/function similar as DAS templates? with arch's envelopes etc. if its upload it with those properties?

Also in the color bars example what you're saying is that if the objects are not grouped they will be treated as one group and if you upload them as a group they will stay as separate groups?

Thanks.

Hi Ruben,

Yes that's correct. If the template has envelops, etc then it will remain.

And yes if you make your own particular group then it will remain together. If you leave objects ungrouped the system will group them as one group.

The benefit here is the system allows the user to replace the group with something. SO for example you can group the mascot head in front of a shield and the user can replace the bull head with a tiger for their own team, while retaining the grouped shield in the background.

Hi Brenden - I read your post. It's been months since we have uploaded templates. We are aware that grouped objects remain grouped. However, in our experience, ungrouped objects remained separate.

Is grouping ungrouped objects an recent change?

I ask because, while this is good on many levels, how do we address design templates containing single objects we desire to keep separate? (ie: Text, background element, mascot, and 3rd element)?

In this example, the system would group the single object background, mascot & 3rd element despite our desire to let customer swap out any of the elements.

Thanks.

I noticed that uploading designs now analyzes the number of colors in the design yet the designer does not recognize the value. Will the screen print function soon automatically adjust to this value? If so, will customers be able to override if they want store to cut colors? Finally, will we be able to ask the system to analyze colors on the thousands of vector designs we have uploaded already.

Thanks again for the great work.

Hi Tommy,

Grouping has always been a part of the CorelDRAW integration as a user could upload a design with a million objects. If they are editable objects such as text DecoNetwork does not group them so there is logic there. This is why you probably don't see your text being grouped. Effects on text remain so your shadow, etc will be maintained.

While I can't see your example I would imagine the mascot is not just one object. It is probably made up of many objects (eyes, ears, head, helmet, shield, etc). Collectively you, as the creator, would group them so they are moved around as one object. This will allow you to swap out one whole mascot for another. If the objects were separate you would need to delete dozens of objects to replace it with a new mascot.

When grouped this would be treated as one large object and will not be grouped with other single objects.

The mass automatic grouping only happens to single objects not already in a group and again to avoid a vector file being uploaded and presenting millions of objects to the user.

Gosh, I can't give away too much :)

We've had this back-end technology for a while and of course need to build a easy way for a consumer to modify this in the designer. So yes, this is certainly where we are going.

I am not sure if there is a way for the designer to figure out the number of colors in a art and display the pricing accordingly. This is for Screen Printed Shirts.

Currently the designer is asking question like " How many colors are in the design", which is bound to confuse customers, and then walk away.

Please let me know if the above is doable.

Hey Brenden ... i have been having problems with templates... is it true that you guys don't support latest versions of corel draw. is there a way to go about it like in before i upload then on my website. For me everything i upload as template turns out to be one group on my website regardless of whether i group different objects, create one or multiple layers or use deconetwork recommended fonts. Help. i use coreldraw x7. Have had some instances where i bought some old templates that were done with earlier versions of corel and they just load perfectly.
