Facebook Catalog and Dynamic Ads

Facebook Catalog and Dynamic Ads was created by mikdave
Has anyone out there found a work around for the image size issue for the Facebook catalog? It seems that the FB catalog requires a minimum image size of 600 x 600 px. As Deco uses images of 400 x 400 px it seems that I am unable to utilize the catalog and dynamic ads, which on investigation appears to be one of the best ways to market on Facebook. Just wondering if anyone has managed to find a way around this?

Did you get anywhere with this? Did you manage to get an automatic catalog set up?

Hi,

Yes, we did but it takes a lot of work. The main issue is resizing images to 600 x 600 (Deco images are only 400 x 400). We created a spreadsheet and uploaded this to FB. It is a long winded process so I am hoping that at some stage in the future Deco will look at this issue, particularly as many of the other platforms seemed to have an automatic process in place.

Hi Greg, just wondering if any of the new API features will work to create automatic catalogues? I'm guessing not, but just crossing fingers!

Hey mikdave, what did you put for the Content ID? See screenshot.

I'm thinking I can use a SKU or product code for blank products but I'm not sure what to put for Decorated Products?

And have you manually added the Facebook pixel and microdata to your site so that you can use Dynamic retargeting?
I don't think the standard Deconetwork pixel installation supports ViewContent, just PageView and Purchase.

Thanks,
Niki

Hi Niki,

Apologies for the delayed response.

We used the SKU for the content id for decorated products. Need to make sure these are all unique though. For instance PL011_SM1, SKU followed by category and then a number to differentiate

Hope that helps

Regards,

David

Thanks David - I can't see anywhere in DecoNetwork to add a SKU for a Decorated Product, only for the Blank Products. Where did you find it please?

And have you manually added the Facebook pixel and microdata to your site so that you can use Dynamic retargeting?

Thanks
Niki

Hi Niki,

We really struggled to resolve this issue also. In the end, we went back and forth raising tickets.

As this was fairly complexed and some time ago now I can't remember the process we followed.

We decided not to continue with Dynamic ads due to the manual nature of the process

Sorry I couldn't help any further

David
