Is there a way to make registration obligatory to start using the designer tool?

Is there a way to make registration involve having to fill in all relevant boxes in the customer details field?

We're still having "massive" problems with registrations.

The amount of people who partial register then run in to problems at shopping cart is doing my head in!
Can we either make full registration compulsory
OR

Add an about page which explains that you need to register full details in order t progress through checkout?

People assume they can fill in details at shopping cart as they can in many other places.............

Those messages need to follow through all affiliate store too..............

Could you explain from a customer perspective what is happening.?

I can make assumptions , but knowing me I will get it wrong.
Sorry to be a pain and want more detail ,:)

No problem.

2 scenarios:

They "register" on the site but don't enter billing information at registration. They then can't get products in to cart & there's no explanation that they need to enter full billing information to access secure payment gateways / shopping cart.

They haven't registered on site & can't add to cart

Under both scenarios people are now used to being able to register / checkout as a guest as preferred at the point of purchase as per most other online platforms.

In with this you still need to address the long standing issue of being able to register using social media credentials in line with the rest of the e-commerce world

cheers
