I have set up a site and have been trying to submit it to Google over the last few weeks.
I put the URL in (
www.livelowered.co.uk
) and the request it to index/crawl the site which takes a few days but then all I get is a load of crawl errors and no indexed pages.
I have read several things about making changes to the robots.txt or htaccess files but I can't find them anywhere in the interface? Would it be a better idea to submit my own xml site map? If so, are there any good, free sites that I can use?
Sorry if these are newbie questions, I am more of a designer so get a little lost with it sometimes!
The system auto generates the robots file for you so you don't have to worry about it. We determine which pages are best to index to also prevent duplicate content on your site, for example we do not index the designer page but do index the individual product pages.
There are some issues with URLs being in the sitemap that shouldn't be which I'm sure are the warnings you are seeing. Our next major update 8.5 removes these unused URLs from the sitemap which should stop the warnings from showing. In the meantime you can ignore the warnings as it's ok for those non existent pages to not be indexed.
I have resubmitted my URL again and just checked the Google Search Console and it is telling me that my URL is not on Google and that I have 0 Valid pages and 70 excluded pages...
I have set up a couple of shops with other printers before the shop I have now using the same url, I wondered if this was causing issues with out of date pages as obviously they are all using the same system and were linked to the same URLs...??
It doesn't seem to create a sitemap either, it allows me to link one but only as a link from my URL which I presume I can't upload to as its pointing at my Deconetwork shop?
Really confused about how I can get my site to appear in Google's search results as i am pretty invisible without it...
Any help anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated... my URL is
www.livelowered.co.uk
hope you're well. Thx for the sitemap link. Just checked with my site and found that with page: https://........./product_info/index/designer_help the pretty old 7.xx version is displayed. Are we even able to amend the feeling and behaviour of this site?
Do we have the option to exclude this page or least to update to current DN version?
In general it seems that in the sitemap are sites included which are turned off and hence can be indexed by google resulting in 404-party
I would greatly appreaciate if DN will only show sites in sitemap which are live. (I also blank product sites which are not available to the store anymore) Can we manually force an update of the sitemap?
