Charlie Brown Christmas

Santa Clause Christmas Movie

The Santa Clause

The Best Christmas Movie Santa?

What’s a good Christmas movie without Santa? Surprisingly, there aren’t too many well-known movie characters that have played Santa over the years, but if one has to make the list, it’s Tim Allen in The Santa Clause.

This movie was released back in 1994 – which is hard to believe – and has actor Tim Allen playing Scott Calvin, a dad turned Santa Clause.

The series has since produced two more movies and recently released a new TV Show, The Santa Clauses on Disney Plus.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

Jack Skellington might not be a household name, but if you’ve ever watched The Nightmare Before Christmas, odds are you’re a big fan of this character.

Skellington lives in a world where every day is Halloween, but soon finds a new magical place and has his eyes opened to the world of Christmas.

Released in 1993, this is a classic movie that is worth a watch if you haven’t already seen it.

Die Hard Christmas Movie

Die Hard

An Action-packed Christmas Movie

Before you ask, yes, Die Hard is a Christmas movie.

This is a story about John McClane, played by Bruce Willis, who goes to visit his estranged wife and two kids on Christmas Eve. But what ends up happening is anything but jolly.

McClane, a New York City policeman, encounters a group of terrorists and does it best to stop them.

While this isn’t a traditional Christmas movie, it’s still one you should watch during the holiday season to change things up.

Yippee Ki Yay!

A Christmas Story

There’s not many Christmas movie characters more recognizable than Ralphie.

A Christmas Story was released in 1983 and the move follows young Ralphie. He does his best to make to Christmas without getting beaten up by a bully.

Bad Santa Christmas Movie

Bad Santa

You either love the movie Bad Santa or hate it.

Played by the famous Billy Bob Thornton, his character Willie plays a mall Santa with only two goals in mind – getting drunk and robbing the surrounding stores blind.

Bad Santa has great movie characters at every turn of this film. If you like darker humor, it is sure to supply you with a lot of laughs.

Elf Christmas Movie

Elf

Elf is another movie that you probably either love or hate.

Played by the famous Will Ferrell, his character Buddy is a human-sized elf that leaves the north pole and reunites with his father in New York City leading up to Christmas.

This movie is without question a comedy – as are all Will Ferrell movies. And if you like that kind of humor, you are probably a big fan of this movie.

Whether you like it or not, you’ve probably seen the famous Buddy character.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas

How the Grinch Stole Christmas is a classic.

It’s without question one of the best Christmas movies ever made and we have Jim Carrey to thank for that.

He does an amazing job playing the role of the Grinch, who lives atop Whoville in a dingy cave and does his best to ruin Christmas for a city that eat, sleeps and breathes it.

If you don’t know who the Grinch is, you’ve been living under a rock.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

The Best Christmas Movie comedy?

There are a lot of rewatchable movies on this list and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is without a doubt one of them.

This movie was released way back in 1989 and is starred by Chevy Chase, who plays one of the best movie characters to ever live, Clark Griswold.

Griswold plays a moronic father who does his best to put on the best Christmas that he can for his family, but runs into issues around every corner.

If this movie doesn’t make you laugh, I’m not sure what to tell you.

Home Alone

A Christmas Movie Classic

Home Alone is more than just one of the best Christmas movies of all-time. It’s one of the best movies of the last 40 years.

Released in 1990, Macaulay Culkin plays the incredibly witty Kevin McCallister. He’s an 8-year-old deviant that gets left home while his family leaves for a vacation to Paris right before Christmas.

McCallister is left by himself to fend off two intruders looking to score big on the would-be empty McCallister home.

The movie was so popular that it featured five spin-off films.
